Yusen Logistics UK Launches Direct Own Consolidation Services from UK to China
The new service, which is now up and running, expands YLUK’s existing own direct LCL services, already delivering consolidated shipments via three lanes from Southampton to Kobe, Nagoya and Tokyo in Japan. The new service is a direct response to increasing demands for high-frequency, small-volume transportation – mainly driven by the growth of the automotive parts industry.
The new service is now transporting weekly and provides customers with the regularity and flexibility to move small volumes quickly. By utilising dedicated assets and state-of-the-art tracking technology, the Company can guarantee high levels of service and visibility while direct routing reduces transit time. In addition, with in-depth knowledge of global Customs regulations, YLUK has the expertise to ensure that consignments are processed effectively and without delays.
YLUK Export Team Leader David Askew says, “Recently we have experienced a growing demand for LCL cargo to Shanghai. With this in mind we have launched this new product, which caters for the demands of our growing customer base. We can now provide direct, reliable transit times with very competitive pricing. This continues the expansion in our existing consolidation portfolio.”
With the new lane in operation, YLUK aims to continue increasing both the range and scope of its services giving customers’ optimum solutions in ocean freight transportation.
PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia Launches Own Consolidation Air Freight Forwarding Service from Semarang Airport
PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia has launched an own consolidation air freight forwarding service from Semarang Airport (Achmad Yani International Airport) in Central Java. The new service provides customers with a faster and more cost-effective forwarding solution, which facilitates integrated in-house handling and includes both customs clearance and collection.
The new service has been introduced to support the growing number of businesses moving into the region, and to improve the existing local supply chain. Previously, air freight from Semarang required land transportation to Jakarta, 500 kilometers west from Semarang, where it would be forwarded on from Jakarta International Airport. However, because road conditions in the region are poor and vulnerable to flooding, PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia sought to develop a faster and more reliable solution.
In addition to the new consolidation service, PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia can now provide higher quality export operations for customers with bases in Semarang. Operations include airway bill issue and customs clearance, now processed in Semarang instead of in Jakarta. This has reduced lead time by approximately twenty four hours and has significantly minimized total transportation costs.
From Semarang, freight can now be forwarded by air worldwide via Jakarta, Denpasar, Singapore or other airports; facilitating flexible management of urgent customer shipments. If shipments are delivered to the Company’s appointed location in Semarang by 14:00, it is possible to arrange for them to arrive at Narita International Airport, Japan, the following morning.
PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia aims to continue improving and expanding supply chain solutions within the region, providing its customers with optimum freight forwarding services.
PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia Launches Air Import Operation at Halim Airport
PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia has launched an own air import operation at Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia.
In launching the new operation, PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia is now able to offer end-to-end import services, from arrival at the airport to delivery to the customer. Services will include enhanced visibility and transport management controls, such as freight status tracking at airport bonded area, customs clearance and supervised vehicle loading.
The new service has mainly been developed to improve solutions for urgent delivery requirements. Located 15 km south-east of Central Jakarta, Halim Airport is conveniently located close to the East Jakarta Industrial Zone, a base for a large number of Japanese companies. Customers located in the industrial zone will now benefit from greatly reduced delivery times, as road transportation from Halim Airport takes between 1.5 (no traffic congestion) to 4.5 (congested traffic) hours less than transportation from Jakarta’s main airport, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia is dedicated to the on-going development of its services. Drawing on its unique Japanese heritage and continuous improvement philosophy, Kaizen, the Company is always looking for ways to enhance its operation; offering optimum freight forwarding solutions to customers.

Yusen Logistics Builds Logistics Center to Expand Service in Mexico Auto Market
Yusen Logistics, a leading third-party logistics provider, announced the start of construction of a logistics center near Celaya, Mexico, to meet the growing demands of its domestic and international automotive customers.
The company celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony in Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato, on March 11, 2016. Kunihiko Miyoshi, Chief Regional Officer of Yusen Logistics’ Americas Region, presided over the event, which was attended by officials and representatives from the Guanajuato governor’s office and the office of the Celaya mayor.
“The automotive industry is growing at a tremendous pace in Mexico. In recent years, a number of major auto manufacturers invested in large assembly plants in the Bajio area. This is bringing many Tier 1 and Tier 2 auto suppliers into the region as well,” said Miyoshi. “Our Bajio Logistics Center is in an ideal location to support the logistics needs of these companies and positions us as a key service provider, building on our existing strengths and capabilities. We look forward to serving our automotive customers as well as supporting the local community.”
The 53,820-square-foot warehouse is strategically located on a 17-acre site in the world-class Amistad Industrial Park in the Bajio region, one of the largest automotive clusters in Latin America. The industrialized area offers access to a highly-developed road and rail network, and strengthens Yusen Logistics’ global capabilities to offer automotive supply chain solutions to OEMs, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, conducting business in Mexico.
“Building the logistics center is an important milestone for our company,” said Jordan Dewart, the newly-appointed President of Yusen Logistics (Mexico) S.A. de C.V. “This investment demonstrates our commitment to meet the growing logistics needs of the markets we serve. Yusen Logistics’ global reach gives us a clear advantage in the Mexico automotive market.”
Services include just-in-time scheduling, domestic truck, rail and intermodal transportation, international freight forwarding, project cargo, import/export services, warehousing and value-add services, and trade compliance.
The warehouse, slated to be operational by the end of 2016, will feature 10,764 square feet of office space, 10 dock doors, a large trailer yard and an ocean container depot. There is room for expansion, including the capacity to double the amount of warehouse and office space and add a cross-dock facility with 30 dock doors.
Last year, Yusen Logistics (Mexico) S.A. de C.V. launched an Automotive Logistics division in Celaya, Mexico, and established a customs office in the Mexico City Airport, as well as a cross-dock office for air exports outside the airport. The company also arranges significant U.S./Mexico cross-border rail and trucking for its customers and partners with its affiliate, Yusen Logistics (Americas), which operates a 100,000-square-foot warehouse in Laredo, TX.

PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia Launches Air Import Operation at Semarang Airport
PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia launched an air import operation at Semarang Airport (Achmad Yani International Airport) from April 1, including customs clearance and delivery services. This allows PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia to not only operate its own air import and export services in Semarang, but also create a system offering an integrated logistics service to the Central Java region, combining ocean freight forwarding and contract logistics.
Located about 500 km east of Jakarta, Semarang, the capital of Central Java, has seen an increase in investment by labor-intensive industries such as automobiles and clothing due to factors such as the wage level, and logistics requirements have increased accordingly. Previously, when delivering to customers in Central Java such as in Semarang, it was necessary to carry out import customs clearance at Jakarta Airport and adopt land transportation for delivery to Semarang. However, with the aim of developing a transportation route capable of providing solutions for urgent deliveries, PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia has launched its own import operation at Semarang Airport and strengthened its supply chain.
With Semarang Airport as the destination airport, the lead time has been reduced by approximately one day thanks to our integrated operations including both import customs clearance and delivery, and the fact that road transportation from Jakarta is no longer necessary. PT. Yusen Logistics Indonesia is now able to offer end-to-end import services from arrival at the airport to delivery to the customer, and aims to increase the quality of transportation along with offering transport management controls such as freight status tracking at airport bonded area, customs clearance, and supervised vehicle loading.
